Simple, get a good mark at your study and have good GPA! This will increase your chances of getting scholarships. There are 2 types of scholarships you can apply to study in Taiwan. One is each school’s scholarship, which you can apply for when you are apply for admission. Normally, for master degree students, the scholarship is different % of tuition fee waiver plus up to 6000 NT$/ per month living allowance. For PhD students, full tuition fee waiver plus up to 30,000 NT$ per month living allowance. The other one is the Scholarship by the Ministry of Education (MOE), this scholarship covers the entire cost of your tuition PLUS provides you a monthly living stipend. The MoE scholarship is 50,000 Rupee per month living allowance and 2 lacs of tuition fee support. So you can study for free with this scholarship in Taiwan

Below are the Steps How Students can apply for Scholarship.

1. Applicants must be non/Taiwanese nationality.

2. Applicants must be healthy both physically and mentally.

3. Applicants should not be recipients of any other Taiwanese Government or University scholarships at the time of application.

4. You can check the Ministry of Education in Taiwan website for the list of scholarships.

It is established by the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to encourage outstanding international students to study in Taiwan, as well as to promote bilateral exchanges and friendship between the peoples of Taiwan and its diplomatic allies.

Yes. If you are choose Taiwan universities to study and you are from an engineering background, the chance of you getting tuition waiver is high. For Scholarship, you need to have good GPA and other supporting documents, such as a good TOEFL or IELTS score, published papers, this will give you a better chance to get the scholarship.

Career Options

Yes. It is possible to find a job in Taiwan without Mandarin. Your choice will probably be very limited to the higher education sector, those companies which have representatives overseas. Yes! International students who wish to work/intern in Taiwan (either on campus or off campus) are required to apply for and obtain a work permit before starting work. Please note that if you hold a job without applying for a work permit, you may be fined between NT$30,000 to NT$150,000!

Taiwan does not have working visa problem. It is not hard for companies to apply for working visa for international students.

For stays in Taiwan exceeding six months, a work visa is needed, and a work permit is needed as part of the work visa application. Once this visa has been issued, and after arrival in Taiwan, an application for an Alien Resident Certificate must be made at the foreign affairs department of the local police office.
